50 Parties Flyer Ryan McGinness

The New York based artist Ryan McGinness has decided to go old school. Lamenting the breakdown of the party as a place for social interaction and dynamic spaces to play, he has created the 50 Parties project. (more…)

LOVE SAVES THE DAY.

Last night was the Mancuso Loft Party Journey Through The Light. The music is always of a guaranteed quality, and still draws new converts at every turn. For those that don’t know about David Mancuso, he is regarded as one of the original forefathers of DJing and of holding the quintessential party. The Loft, which has in various forms been running since 1970. Mancuso comes to London every three months to play the Loft of the Light Bar in Shoreditch. The atmosphere this time was even more friendly and communal, you talk to strangers on the dancefloor like their your best mate because you are sharing something unique, there is no pretense (which in London is a rarity in itself), as the Disco boom grows ever bigger in the domain of East London, I just hope it continues to be an oasis of brilliant music and brilliant people. Here presented for you guys is  without doubt the tune of the night. Enjoy!

MANCUSO 1

MANCUSO 1
Back in 1970, a hippie set up a party at his loft on Broadway, it was invite only no drink, (some) drugs and just a hell of alot of good vibes and beautiful music. 38 years later, David Mancuso’s loft parties feel like one of the last underground events that happen, he runs a night in London every three months through the Lucky Cloud Soundsystem, it takes place at the rather esoteric venue of the Light Bar (funnily enough in their loft) I’ve been twice and it never disappoints it is a truly unique experience. However, I have never found an entire mix of the night (it lasts over 8 hours usually) and then i stumbled upon DeepHousePage – included is a night at the loft about three years ago in either NYC or Tokyo. There are eight separate MP3’s and each has a rather bizarre intro from Mancuso (and his Japanese interpreter) but ignore that and if you’ve got the patience, enjoy…
