INTEL REMASTERED PROJECT.

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

A great project from the minds of Intel and their Visual Life strand. (A follow up to the excellent Scott Schuman profile posted here a couple of months ago). In this one, 5 young artists and designers, working across disciplines were tasked with re-imagining a famous artwork. Their choices range from the classical stylings of DaVinci, and J.M.W Turner, to Edvard Munch and Vincent Van Gogh. While the actual results are suitably abstract as to keep your attention, it should be interesting to follow and see what they come up with in the end.

MARVEL AT THE NBA.

Monday, October 25th, 2010

We all love a collaboration/mash-up now and again, well, this one’s just lovely. A collaboration between ESPN (The Magazine), Marvel Comics and the NBA for their 2010/2011 NBA season preview is a fabulous idea, and beautifully executed. Beyond the novelty of the idea, what’s especially nice about this is the way that each cover brings to life the subplot of each NBA team (The Cavaliers cover being of particular poignancy) It shows that great sports (like Basketball and the NBA in particular) are heady mixtures of soap opera and superhuman athletic achievements. Therefore, what better medium to express that with than comicbooks? Check out a few of my faves after the jump. The full (hi-res) collection is here.

Inglorious Basterds. There are some amazing creations here, with lots of diverse styles. Check out some faves after the jump. (more…)

The Vader Project 1

Almost a sister project to the Enterprise Project I blogged about around the release of the re-imagined Star Trek, here is the Vader Project, taking probably the most well known Science Fiction icon (alongside the aforementioned Enterprise) and letting 100 artists and designers loose on it. The Enterprise Project Original

Found this via Worlds Best Ever. Designed as part of the marketing push for the new Star Trek film (although it seems a bit of a moot point with so much pre-film hype)
