— THE SOCIETY OF THE SPECTACLE

THE ECLECTIC METHOD

ECLECTIC METHOD

I was sent another Michael Jackson tribute video yesterday, just one more 2.0 response to the death of Michael Jackson. So far, so deluged. But delving a little deeper into the producers of the clip led me to the expansive world of Eclectic MethodTurns out these guys have been at the forefront of the nascent remix culture for a while now, working with some big bands (From U2 – [Ugh] to more credible acts like the Beastie Boys) to create mash-ups for concerts and promos. They have also taken this mixed media approach onto the road. Playing festivals and gigs around the world. When you check it out, you can see why, this is fun breathless stuff, willing to take chances. It also shows you that even the most of divergent of genres have the same fundamentals in common. People want to dance. There’s a wealth of videos on here, all for purchase (or you can download the MP3’s as seperate files) I would certainly recommend the Temptations video and the Rock & Remix video, but these are just the tip of the iceberg.

But let’s start at the beginning – here’s Eclectic Method’s tribute to Michael Jackson.
